There`s a saying in my country; “Norwegians are born with skis on their feet”, and although not everyone is a good skier, I think I can say that most of us own a pair of skis. From we`re small children we learn to ski, and most elementary schools organize yearly ski-days. It`s also a really popular family activity; especially going to cabins in the mountains from January-march, to go skiing. It`s something that everyone can learn quite quickly, and it`s both fun and easy!
If you`re looking for a budget friendly winter activity that you can enjoy alone, with friends or with family, cross country skiing is something I can really recommend. If you have a dog, I`ll bet it`ll happily join you in the ski-slopes! It does cost a little to get the equipment, but once you`ve got it; it can last for many, many years. You can get skis and poles cheaper by buying the equipment off-season, or buy it used. And here`s the best part. When you`ve got it, it doesn’t cost you anything to use it. As long as you`ve got a suitable area for skiing you`re good to go. It`s also a very good way to exercise during winter!
Pack a backpack with a thermos full of hot chocolate and a camera, and go explore wonderful nature scenes.
What kind of winter activities do you do?
Have you tried cross country skiing?

I’ve been snowboarding and skiing – though not cross country. That sounds more like me actually – I really enjoyed skiing but wasn’t real good with the slopes.
I`ve actually never tried snowboarding. mostly because my balance is shit, and I could never afford it!
you should definitely try cross country, it can go really fast down a hill!! such a energyboost!
Although I live near the beautiful Rocky Mountains I have never been skiing. I am interested in trying cross country skiing at some point in my life, and maybe even downhill skiing someday, too. Though downhill skiing is not budget friendly from what I understand, and this is just one reason I’m more likely to try cross country skiing.
Have a grateful day!

I just googled Rocky Mountains, and I`m still breathless! Such a beautiful area to live close by! Now I definitely hope you`ll consider some cross country skiing. I`d bet that would be a wonderful way of experiencing that amazing nature!
I tried slope skiing and didn’t like it. Probably had something to do with the fact that I was falling down in the cold snow, like, constantly. But I would try cross country. It looks energizing. And the thermos of hot chocolate in the backpack? Sign me up!
I hate falling when skiing, I guess that`s why I prefer cross country. though you can experience the odd fall now and then, but it`s mostly quite easy to stand up. It really is energizing, absolutely! though I wouldnt reccommend going skiing with someone super competitive, that`s exhausting! I prefer a slower pace to enjoy the nature around me:-) oh yes, the hot chocolate is a must! It`s great to take a little break and enjoy a hot cup of chocolate. I can really, really reccommend it;-)
